Production process
After receiving the fresh material from our farmers, it is getting
washed and cut in flakes. Those flakes run through the air-drying process on a belt. The material gets refined with sieves, sorts and other machines like ascending sifters and color sorters. Depending on which cut is required, the material is granulated or ground. Upon customers demand the material can become extra steam sterilized. Afterwards it will be packed in bags, big bags or cartons and get stored in our warehouse. On demand we can deliver to our customers or they pick the material up by themselves.
Agriculture
Steinicke has full control from sourcing the seeds until advice of harvesting. Our agricultural engineer is available 24 h/d for our contracted farmers. 80 % of our fresh material is cultivated max.
50 km away from the air-drying plants from more than 50 farmers. All farmers are QS GAP quality certified and are controlled by IQ Agrarservice. With around 250 ha is parsley our main product, but in total we cultivate app. 1,200 ha.
Seed & Farmer
Our long term partnership with agricultural contract farmers and customers begins with consulting from our agricultural engineer and our own developed machines.
80 % of our fresh material is cultivated max. 50 km away. Our Farmers are part of the steinicke family.
At harvest time our facility runs 7 days per week almost 11 months a year.
Constant controlling
Steinicke has full control from sourcing of seeds until decision to harvest. All field care and irrigation is well documented by our farmers, and is available to our quality department.
Our agricultural engineer is checking the growth and the health of our herbs and vegetables on the fields regularly.
Washing and Cutting
After delivery and washing the fresh raw material is sorted from mud and other soiling. Now the clean area begins in our main facility. First the material is cut into flakes before it becomes transported by conveyor belts to our dryers.
Drying Process
Self developed and assembled air-drying units supported with hot air from our wood chip plant. Also Steam sterilization is possible.
Refinement
Sieves, sorts and other machines like ascending sifters clean the dried material. Our machines cut the materials to many different sizes and powders of < 400 micrometers in grain size.
Monitoring and Support
Careful controls and HACCP management minimalize the microbial load ensureing flawless quality.
