Hayna, July 22, 2024 – On the evening of July 22, 2024, at around 9 p.m., a fire broke out in the drying plant at Steinicke-Metz GmbH in Hayna. Fortunately, all employees were able to get to safety in time, so there were no injuries.

The fire broke out in a belt dryer, which is used to process culinary herbs. Parsley was being processed at the time of the incident. The exact root cause of the fire is still unclear and is being investigated by the relevant authorities. It is not yet possible to  estimate the damage.

The reconstruction of the damaged plant will start as soon as possible. “We will need all our employees for this! The whole team is ready to lend a hand,” says Managing Director Michael Lettenbichler.

Processing the herbs still on the fields has top priority, now. In order to continue our operations, we are thinking in many directions and examining all available options.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to the emergency services, who acted quickly and professionally to bring the fire under control. We would also like to thank for the numerous offers to help, which have reached us from many different directions. Such support is invaluable at this difficult time.

We will provide further information in due course.
